Gliding on a Segway is much easier than you might think. The onboard computer is designed to keep the platform level under your feet, so rather than you having to keep your balance, you actually need to make the Segway platform unlevel in order to move forward and back. And this is done by simply using your feet by shifting your weight slightly toward your toes to move to forward and slightly toward your heels to move backward. Since the Segway is designed to remain at rest and in balance, to stop, you simply allow it to return to level.
Steering a Segway is just as easy... The handle bars pivot left and right from a point in front of the platform. Tilting the handle bars in the direction you want to go makes the Segway turn in that direction, an action which very quickly becomes intuitive.
